Just how blessed and great life is even in the midst of chaos. You just have to slow down and really see the quiet parts of the world and it's amazement and beauty and that's the part of the world you should remember and focus on.
Was fortunate enough for things to come together this morning. And it was an absolute awesome god that put it all in motion. Had a bunch of birds gobbling this morning and set up in the middle of them but closer to one bird that seemed to be separated. I picked a tree and got situated but then 2nd guested myself and moved 20yds down the ridge.
Once set up I then realized he was higher up the hill then I first though so now I'm kicking myself but it's to light to move now. 15 mins later I hear drumming behind me and to my left (worst place ever for a right handed shooter) and 2 toms come strutting by to my right at 15yds. They end up going up and around at 60yds toward the bird I though I was gonna be in play for and I thought welp this is the end.
I decided to just give it a last best effort and got really aggressive with the call (called very little and very soft to this point) and thankfully a hen directly behind me started to get pissed which got the toms excited. And then the blessing those 2 birds for some reason decided to come back. 99% of the time this never happens if a bird has come through on the way somewhere he isn't coming back to a spot he already passed without seeing a hen. Both came back to 25yds and that was the end.
I just sat there for 45mins after the shot listening to the other birds still gobbling and being vocal watching the sun rise. I just love this time of year and really wanted to take a moment to just soak in the beauty and peacefulness of the turkey woods in the spring. Sorry for the long post lol
