Re: It might just happen this evening! (it didn't)
The wind was terrible yesterday evening, blowing up to 15mph. It finally settled down about 20 minutes before dark. As light faded, I opened the side door of the blind to let light in to let me see my sights. With 5 minutes left, I hear footsteps and look out of the blind to the left and see antlers. I leaned away from the window and drew my bow. As the deer came into view at 15 yards, I saw that it was the big 4 point that I had picture of fighting with a big 7 point (see above). I let down my draw and waited. Several times, the fork horn gazed into the blind but never picked me off. He stayed there for probably 15 minutes. I heard more leaves crunching about 10 yards behind me as light faded. He never came out into the field.
I did a snort wheeze trying to clear the field well after dark and heard nothing run away. I got the window completely unzipped, and unsure if any deer were close, carefully stepped out. I'm convinced that one of the two bigger bucks was behind me the whole time. He blew twice and bounded off.
This land owner doesn't allow hunting on Sunday, so I'll be back after him on Wednesday.
