I have had one of the worst colds I can remember. Real bad cough and my nose is stopped completely up and nothing seems to help much. I wasn't about to let that stop me from going on opening day. I went to a spot that would require less walking since I have no energy. I had 2 birds on a ridge about 200 yards apart and I sit right in the middle of them. A mouth call is my favorite but that was out of the question so I used a slate. The one to my left come off the roost first and started my way but hung up just out of range for about 1 hour and finally decided to leave. The whole time I never heard a peep out of the one to the right but as soon as the first one decided to leave he gobbled right behind me and couldn't have been 50 yards. I spun around fast and got the gun up just as he came into view. Shot him at 30 steps at 8:00 this morning.
