Lost a striker the other day and in my anger over my favorite Fred Cox Tulipwood leaving my possession I called Fred and ordered enough strikers to outfit every one on this forum. Could have bought a new gun for what I just spent on strikers of all sorts of wild exotic woods and a bunch of new Tulipwood ones as well.

I really liked my last one though

Had one like that a few yrs ago. My uncle turned one for me out of Purple Heart. I was depressed for weeks after lost it. Then last yr while hunting in Ky I ripped a hole in my turkey vest pocket and lose the remaining ones I had. Ended up whittling one on the spot to finish my. You can always get another striker but it will never be the same as certain one.

Setterman, you have good taste in strikers! Fred makes some good ones for sure. I think I still have around a dozen of his strikers. His Tulipwood is one of my favorites.

I'd say you can give me an extra, but then I remember the only pot call i have is an HS Strut cheap slate call and I can't even find it. :D

You ever use a wing bone as a striker?

I've got one I got somewhere, but it's way too high pitched for my tastes

I make them with gobbler bones and they are the right pitch. I did make one from my opening day gobbler this year that is too high pitched for my liking.

As for strikers I know a wingbone works but I never use it as such because I can't find my only slate call.
