In the past I haven't yelped like a jake much but after a couple of successful hunts on henned up birds, that might change in future years when winter flock breakup seems behind. A few of those coarse, slower cadence, 3-4 note yelps jakes (I believe) have encouraged not 1 but 2 birds to croak in the last few days.

It's like in tommy's walnut sized brain The image has been created of a hen ready to tango, and then some sorry jake sneaks in to do the honors...twice now...they can't stand it and here they come.

Anyone else seen this?

Absolutely. I do it all the time on my homemade tube calls. They do perfect Jake yelps, and can gobble really good. I will make gobble and follow it real fast with a couple or three notes of Jake yelps.
Also can fight cluck, purr, and gobble on it. Works really well for early season bachelor groups.

I always Jake Yelp on birds hung up at 75 to 100yds. Nothing works like a charm, but I've tagged over 20 over the years that I'm convinced the Jake yelps made hung up birds commit.
