We compared a few chokes for the mossberg 835 last year and concluded that the jelly head .690 was a bit better than the OEM ulti full choke .695. Undertaker seemed about the same as OEM. Since then I've picked up a carlsons ported .675.

Has anyone played with a carlsons ported .675 choke for an 835? So far my experimentation shows that i shouldn't have spent the extra money and stuck with the stock choke.

FYI I don't shoot expensive ammo! I stick to wincheser supremes, rem nitros, and federal flite controls. Got em all in the gun safe (hit a season end sale on ammo last year). Going to shoot the carlsons this weekend but wondering if anyone else has tried it.

any other suggestions welcome but i'm not spending anymore on chokes.

should have mentioned, the sale i hit was at the jamestown wally world 3.75 a box on 3.5" shells. i bought all they had left and have sold a few boxs for a profit.

I'm not big on shooting past 30-40 yards either. most have been taken at 15-30 yards. The biggest prob for me is many chokes have too small a kill zone in the 15-25 yard range.

I guess that's why i say should have stuck with the factory choke.

your pattern can be too tight.
