Saturday morning found me and my juvie set up with 6 gobblers within a 100 yds of us gobblin there heads off. They were henned up something fierce and i figured when they all broke up we was good to go but i was wrong, they all split and went there on direction unfortunately not in ours. This morning we set up on two gobblers and a jake about a 100 yards and all 3 went away from us, but stayed on birds until about 10 when we were leaving we seen some head down in a hollow. We got around and set up and had a hen answer back, it wasnt 2 minutes and she was walking around us at about 10 feet and the gobbler was coming up the holler gobbling and double gobbling. At about 75 yards he walks up on the side of the next hill and blows up and really starts hammering. That little boy was shaking like a dang leaf, well this went on for about 15 min me just calling enough to keep the hen mad and stay with us. Finally she lost interest and walks up to the gobbler and they casually walk away and he never gobbled again :( I was really dissapointed until he told me that was the most exciting thing hes ever seen, and that made the trip worth while. But it still sucks, He had never heard a turkey gobble until sat. morning and thats the first one hes ever had to strut in front of him :)

thats why they call it "hunting". Doesn't always work out but its still fun! I am sure all that action has him hooked and ready to go back! Glad to see soo many people getting the youngsters involved this weekend!

If you make it too easy on them, they won't appreciate it as much. Glad y'all were on birds, you got all season to kill them.

Isn't it funny how when we hunt alone, we play their game to the best of our ability and when we get whooped we just take it and try to sleep through our excitement and just get out there again.

Yet when our youngens is out there we try harder, maybe too hard, and the whoopin hurts worse.

That is how I feel anyway. :(

Better luck to ya'll next time.
