Set up where I had seen 9 jakes and 3 long beards yesterday afternoon well before daylight this morning. When daylight and the rain showed up so did the birds but they were in the middle of the field. There were about 25 feeding around. Had 4 hens break off and come check out the dekes. They fed by and then across the field 5 birds poped out. There were 4 jakes and one bird with what looked like a 7 or 8 in beard. They fed across the field and were standing in my dekes when some guy pulls in the field. I tried to pick the one bird out but they were all huddled together running out of the field. I finally picked him out and threw some lead his way..missed. The guy unloaded his ATV and drove all the way around the field. Ran every bird out of the country. It was 9:30 so I decided to move down and hope for the best maybe the birds would come back. Everything settled down and had 3 jakes walk up behind me. Two I could have hit with the gun barrel never had a birds that close. I just let them pass. Now it is 10:30 and the guy leaves and I"m really pissed off at this point. I watch him leave and things get quite again. I make a few soft yelps and had a hen answer me. I called her to within 5 yards that was cool as she knew I was there and was looking for me because she was all alone. Just as she walked past me I looked out in the field and there were 14 birds feeding toward me. It took them about 20 mins but once again I had them at my dekes. To my suprize they were all jakes. Man it was a great morning for birds but not the monsters I was looking for. By the way I did not kill anything.
