Been hunting about 25 years and now hunting with a young man I work with. Have been trying to get him on a bird for 2 years. We've been on many over this time but to no luck for him. Thursday morning we were on catoosa and struck one before daylight setup to work him hen pitched out and as usual they walked off. Around 1:30 we got on another one he was pretty hot. We were on a field about a 1/4 mile long shaped like a candy cane he sounded like he was at the top of this field were it hooked in the back a thick holler ran off to the left side of where it hooked around so we backed up and he sat down on the opposite side of where it hooked around assuming he'd walk up the edge of the field. I backed up to try and call him around by him. Well he didn't do that he cut straight across this thick holler and came straight to me. I really didn't want to shot him as I wanted him to get the shot. Long story short I missed. Maybe I'll get him on one soon.
