Just wondering if deer get bitten by snakes

Just thinking you see some picks of deer with there leg swollen then you see some 3 legged deer.Just wondering how many deer get bitten by copperheads and rattlesnakes. I have seen and killed deer with there leg missing from the shank down think a snake might have caused that.

Tangent: has anyone ever heard the wives tale that dogs with do-claws are immune to snake bites? I went to college in MS and I heard numerous people make that claim.

had a lab with dew claws get tagged by a copperhead years ago so..........well you did say you were in mississippi :smash: but in allseriousness i have never heard that one

Yes. Killed a doe a few years ago in bow season, swollen foot, there was an abscess with two holes on Its front foreleg- had to been a snakebite or two perfect puncture wounds

I think a venemous snake would bite anything if startled or stepped on
