It's a political hot button issue that no one wants to touch, much less the inept NCAA. I'm glad that Fields released a statement saying that UGA did not fail to provide an environment of diversity, and that he doesn't hold ill feelings towards the university, so at least he wasn't dragging them through the mud (overtly).
Transfers are quickly becoming free agency, and I have mixed emotions about it. In this case, Fields was an awesome raw talent that couldn't beat out the incumbent, had a hard time picking up the playbook and making right decisions with the football (which may have improved with time if he would have stayed and had good work ethic/study habits), and seemed to have a sense of entitlement, so I grew tired of the distractions towards the end of his tenure. I wish that he would have stayed, but since he is gone I won't be heartbroken. I'm hoping that UGA won't need a backup QB this season, and that the new roster additions step up and progress and are ready if needed.
