Keeping score? Butch Jones delivers soliloquy on media overblowing issues.

Interesting timing with the 4 game stretch ahead. Nothing new with coaches going off on the media but taking the time to keep score is a different approach. Not sure if he's trying to motivate his team or trying to play mind games with the media.

"Each week, there's something that is the major issue. It's a catastrophe," Jones said, noting he "keeps a journal."

"It's blown out of proportion. I'm charting week-to-week what we blow up in the media. The main issues. At the end of the year, I'm going to go back and relive those. We spend so much time creating things that aren't really there. We make them real when they're not real."

"Don't be me wrong, there's a lot of things that are real that we need to get corrected. But sometimes, you can overdo it and all of a sudden, you create more than what's there. We have to make some corrections. We have to get better. We all understand it. But I also see progress."

He also writes down names and puts them in his back pocket. Pretty sure he has been eyeballing you on the sidelines and has taken notes on your behavior. You better watch out GnB. Your name will be on the list.

I thought that was the chart that told him when to go for "two"....... :D

P.S..... TMS and I are friends..... I know it's hard to tell sometimes.... :rotf:

Yes, he writes the names down on that same chart. The problem is, the chart is filling up with names and he cant read what the chart says. :tu:

he needs to keep a list of who can't block, catch or tackle :rotf: :rotf: :rotf:

Sounds a bit petty to me. Comments such as that and the 'put those names in our back pocket' comment last year cause me to wonder if Butch is a control freak.

He is a control freak. Thats why he hired Debord. Debord is a yes man that does what Butch tells him to.

I didnt see the presser but they were talking about this on the radio this morning. They all agreed that it was one of those " you just had to be there " moments and that it was pretty much just Butch light heartedly messing with the media.

That's what I've been thinking for a couple years now. A lifelong friend knows several ex Vol players on a first name basis.. Some who had long NFL careers. He has heard things that had him suspecting Butch was a control freak. The best he has ever heard any of them say about Butch is "he's alright."

And Saban isn't a control freak???? I would rather have a captain than a Gilligan at the helm

Comparing CBJ to Saban is like comparing a Pinto to a Mustang. Here's the difference. When a coach is winning and putting a good product on the field. Fans can overlook their coaches flaws. When a coach is struggling, the fans are fast to point out their flaws. That's college football and life. No different than a marriage.... :rotf:

I'm not comparing the wins, just philosophy. Why put down a coach because he has a similar trait of one of the greatest? Sure Butch isn't there yet, but he does have a 9 game winning streak, please spare us all on the competition

For you gator fans that couldn't bear to watch the whole game... Butch also led the fans in a great song called Rocky Top, after the VOLS kicked their rear.

Same fans that were wanting to run him out of town in the first half.... :)

Wonder how many would actually admit they was booing at the end of the fiery half???

They were booing because they wanted them to run a play instead of running to the locker room.
