For those of you from TN who hunt KY.

From the KDFW web site:

Non-Resident Spring Turkey Permit Sales Suspended

Effective immediately, standard nonresident spring turkey permits for 2020 will no longer be sold in order to confirm to Gov. Andy Beshear's executive order and current CDC guidelines to minimize the spread of the COVID-19 Coronavirus. Only non-resident hunters who have already purchased 2020 spring turkey permits, and can comply with the Governor's Executive Order No. 2020-266 should consider hunting in Kentucky during the spring season. The order requires all non-residents who travel to Kentucky to self-quarantine immediately for 14 days upon arrival.

Shame all around.... first year in over 15 I won't be buying my TN tags.
I'll sure miss hunting your fine state this year.
Hope to be back next year!

I agree with the self quarantine for 14d when crossing from a state with a higher incidence of the virus to a state with a lower incidence of the virus. That's just smart and good epidemiology.

But for a serious turkey hunter, they are already self quarantined when travelling, living out of their truck, and wanting to be alone in the woods. The last thing a serious Turkey hunter wants is to be around others in the woods.

The problem is... far too many out of state hunts are guided with meals and lodging... thereby exposing multiple others to the potential for spread.

Believe you can still hunt tn we can't hunt ky.
Yes you're right. And I'd love too.
But, for many reasons, I'll choose not to this year.
I wish each of you a safe, successful, and joy filled season this year!!

Because the virus knows state borders? There are so many people crossing the state line every day, hunters would be a very small part and some of the least likely to spread the virus.

I am sure any nonresident going with a guide already has their tags

Got, you just dont get it...

The only reason drastic measures have to be taken by states is because so many gather in large groups or travel and expose large groups in other areas. Turkey hunters aren't the problem. They naturally self quarantine in the woods. They get punished because folks from highly infected states come home (after college is cancelled or they lost their jobs) to rural America from the big cities and get together with 20 or 30 of their friends and start a new local explosion.

There wouldnt be a need for a shelter in place order if everyone did their part and avoided congregating for the time being

I just hope this has all died down come deer season.

Yeah, hopefully this will die down soon.
Could you imagine the revenue loss if they stop NR deer tags? All those leases, hotels, taxidermy, etc.

Not downplaying they seriousness of the virus at all, fyi.
