Paying players millions.

Players/coaches leaving mid season.

Maybe not the NFL, but looks like a pro minor league more so then old college football. And it will continue to get worse.

He will be singing a different tune when he's coaching for one of the teams he's talking about.

Remember when college football players were actually student athletes going to college to get an education and playing football for fun?

'70s? Barely!

It's just the way things are nowadays. Everyone is chasing the dollar. It flows down to young kids these days. People will spend a LOT of money on youth sports for the hopes of training their kid to be one of the best in the sport to hopefully get a scholarship. And then, if the kid has elite talent, they will chase the promises of "handlers", etc. There is no wonder a lot of these guys are all about themselves.

In high school, and even younger in some cases, most athletes (girls and boys) will only play one sport, because that sport is year round. Forget having fun with your buddies. Many of them, even the elite ones, get burned out and quit just to have a life.

I work with a guy that has a 14 year old son. The kid takes private lessons from a pitching coach, hitting coach, and catching coach. He plays travel ball year round. They have a twitter account and online profiles highlighting his stats with videos. The mom, dad and kid eat, sleep and live baseball 24/7 365. I don't care how much you love baseball, it has to get old.

It's the way things work nowadays. Do they have other children?

I kind of caught up in it when my oldest daughter (10 at the time) was invited to pitch for a fastpitch softball team at a national tournament in Columbus OH. This would have been 2004. I was gaga, with the attention and we went.

However, we were miserable. It rained most of the week, so we were cramped in a hotel room with a 7 yr old daughter and a newborn daughter. Plus, we didn't have the money to be staying that long.

Saturday week comes and they postpose again, but not until later in the day. Sunday comes, and they have decided to try to play, but would announce later. Our school was scheduled to start the next day.

I told the coach, sorry, but we are going home, and we did.

After that, we played for a local team some but not a crazy schedule. She much preferred basketball, so I finally talked her into giving up softball, even though I knew that high school would probably be as far as she could go with bball.

We don' regret it.

And affirms what we have always known, but some teams were better at doing it than others ;) ! At least now, while some teams can still offer more, it will be out in the open.

He's Just feeling a little salty because ALABAMA and Georgia are #1 and #2 on early signing day and sucking up all the Talent. He will feel a little different when he is at a elite school.
