I have heard just use a dull broadhead and then I have heard something about putting a beer can tab behind your broadhead and I have seen, years ago, a round metal tab thing with teeth sticking out all aruond that goes on behind your broadhead.

What is the best set up to kill a turkey with your bow and arrow?

I will be using my deer hunting bow, don't plan on messing with it as in turning it down or anything, just want to use it and kill a turkey with it.

Not fond of the guiletine (sp?) where the blades are like 3" across and you aim for the head either.

So, fill me in.

Shoot regular broadheads. I shoot spitfires at deer and they will destroy a turkey too. My dad has shot a few birds with a rage and its also pretty nasty. Just aim at where the wing attaches to the body or my favorite is to have them facing away from me and shoot them in the center of the back.

Your speaking of an Adder Point.... it goes behind the broadhead and delivers more impact energy to inflict damage... also helps reduce complete pass-through and may help in arrow recovery should you miss.

You can still find them if you search around....

ditto, just use your same deer setup and take out the wing joint or up the ole butthole,or right above the beard if facing you :D hit em high they die,low they go

I bow hunt turkeys. The best way is with a good blind to conceal the movements with your bow. Another great trick is to cut off one of the hooks of a treble fishing hook and then lay the other two hooks so that the hook point face back at the broad head. Use dental floss to secure shank of hook to your arrow shaft right behind the broad head by simply wrapping it around. Don't use too much floss to keep the weight down and practice first to see how low it may shoot. Shouldn't be very off at all from 20 yards and in. The hooks will stop the broad head inside the turkey almost guaranteeing a kill if near the money spot. Hope this helps, it's simple to do and will work with any kind of broad head.

I use my deer set up. I shoot muzzy's 100 grain 4 blade. my biggiest problem is getting drawn. Good luck you will love the challenge. Very addictive.
