While the distraction won't matter this weekend, I wonder if he will coach Bama through the playoffs?

I'm sure Nick will expect him to do so, but there's a good 4-5 weeks that would be impossible to try to do both, and there is no way he would wait until Bama is finished before he starts recruiting for UGA. But hey, at least Nick won't have to search far for his next excuse when Bama loses :D ! Should be fun!

Richt is supposed to coach the bowl game but heard earlier he's been offered the Miami job. If he accepts and leaves UGA before the bowl that could put pressure on Kirby to get to Athens. Time will tell.

Smart will not coach GA in bowl game regardless

Correct. But he will be assembling staff, doing player evals, recruiting (interesting to see if he steals any Bama recruits and how many current GA commits stay with them). No way he wastes 5 weeks of precious time.

The biggest factor to his being successful is his choice of OC, and his willingness to give them the keys.

Kirby Smart will reportedly stay with Alabama through postseason

I would bet though, if Alabama loses to FL/not making it to the playoff he will leave earlier.

I suppose UGA agreed to this. A mistake IMO. I would want him on the job doing everything he could to start putting Georgia back on the map.
