KY rifle opener

Definitely not many shots where I hunted. Nothing over a 2.5 year old buck saw on our place. My son hunts down the highway and shot a pretty good one this evening right after the rain started.

Christian Co and no one has killed. Weather has been crap so far. 0 chasing. My guess is peak rut is about 4-7 days from now. In a groundblind today!

Heard 15 at my place, that's fewer than normal. Morning was very slow two friends hunted the afternoon & saw more deer but nothing crazy
Short hunt this morning before church and saw 0
Trying to decide if I want to sneak out between the heavier rain showers

Northern Christian Co. had right at 30 shots by 8:00. Low from last year's total of 86 by 8:30. I'm not counting that shot I took on the 10.

Bucks around the house here started pushing does around the 1st. I watched a really good 9 last weekend push a doe all over my property. Luckily he stayed out of bow range. The 10 yesterday morning was tending a doe. He never appeared to be pushing her, they just stayed in close proximity for a good 20 minutes before he presented a clean shot. I love watching the different phases of the rut and how it progresses.

My buddy killed a big 8 pt at 2pm Saturday. We carried him to the taxidermist and he said the kill was way down. Said he had 3 times as many bucks on opening day of archery than gun opener. Back at it today after the Sunday washout.

Hope things improve with some cooler weather.

If someone has punched a buck tag and needs another killed, my son still has an unused KY buck tag from our quota hunt trip. :)
