For the last ten or so years , prob longer , there has been a quota hunt on Barkley . And it's in Jan and usually listed in the quota hunt section of the guide . There is no mention of it in this yrs guide .BUT there is going to be a three day hunt in Jan . If you are looking to kill a late buck ( there are some good ones ) or put a doe down ( there are too many ) AND you are a resident you have to apply in person in Dec at the Lodge . I don't know for sure but non res can prob apply also but that out of state license approaches $300, plus there may be another draw fee ?
im assuming this had to do with COVID ? Strange Ky fish & Game didn't know anything about a 3 day archery hunt there 2-3 weeks ago .I'm told the park recreation mgr and the rangers make the decision on dates, quotas .
Just seems a little restrictive, but I won't say fishy . Thoughts ?
