Large Rifle vs Large Rifle Magnum

I was able to get my hands on some large rifle magnum primers yesterday(CCI 250). I thought I was getting large rifle primers (CCI 200). My friend that I got them from knew I was wanting large rifle but said that these were not really any different. I have used CCI 250 for years but always in a magnum caliber. Even though I have reloaded for many years, I just don't stray from the normal. I always use pretty tame loads below max. This is for a 260 Remington load that is about 1.5 grains below max. What do you all say? Okay to use the 250's?

Drop down another grain and work back up to your load and it should be fine.
