Somehow my fishing boat has developed a smallish leak.
For the first 2 years I had the boat I never even took the drain plug out because there was no need.
It was always bone dry after the return trip, except if it was really rough and I took on some water over the sides from the spray.

Anyway I have noticed here lately that when we pull out and the boat is still on the ramp the water will be about 2 to 3 inches deep back there.
I haven't investigated it at all other than I left the plug in a couple times and saw some drips that are hitting the concrete about center of the boat width wise and about 2 feet forward of the transom.
I know it is probably just dripping from there because that is the lowest spot and thats where it collects before dripping.

Anyway, a buddy told me about a product he saw years ago and I was wondering if there was anything out there like this.

He said it looked like a stick of puddy and you heated it up and then just rubbed it on the outside of the boat and when it cooled it set up like hard as steel.
Just curious if anyone had ever heard of such?

Fixing it would require it to be patched (welded) from the underside of the boat as there is no way to get to the bottom of the boat from the inside without some MAJOR and I mean MAJOR work.
When I put a new floor in the boat I couldn't get the old floor out. Back in 1985 when Bass Tracker put a floor in a boat they MEANT it to be there forever. So basically I just laid the new floor on top of the old one and screwed it down.

Anyway, just thought it might be worth a shot to ask here if anyone had heard of something like that, or had another possible fix?

always had good luck with waterweld it will set up under water I don't leave home on a fishing trip without it

May also want to fill it up as to see where it's leaking from...Thought I was going to have to weld mine and found a rivet had come out where the boat sits on one of the bunks...

Replace the plug first. I had very similar problem. Replaced plug which was original and fixed my problem.

I tracked and tracked a leak in my boat and turned out the plug wasn't tight enough

Yep. Mine was just old and had dry rotted I guess. Glad I found it but man was that aggravating.

Ruger, I have used the stuff you are talking about. A green stick stuff that you heat and rub on the spot. Always worked fine. Still some on my aluminum Jon boat , been there for years. I think you can get it at Cabelas and some of the other places. Aluminum boat patch or something like that.

I sealed my jon boat with this stuff called coat it then painted over it . It will seal any pin holes or leaky rivets
