Luckiest birds in the world at times like this. They have a knack for "skirting" hunters just outside of gun range. Keep after'em, good luck.

Lol, same thing to me this morning! Gobble 200yds away behind my huge tree, whule I'm facing other birds gobbling 150y away on my side of the tree. 5min later, heard the spit and drumming right behind me. Huge tree was good cover though.

Ha similar for me but it was actually those birds I thought I was facing. They went from top of ridge and over I thought off the reservation but actually circled the hill and right up my rear end...
