Turkeys are more patient than I am, today , this season, every season, some things never change, carry on!!

I know what you mean. They do not have a watch on their wrist and they are out there to survive and we are out there for recreation, which puts things in perspective when you think about it. I was telling an old timer few years back about this bird that kept whooping my arse and he said verbatim "he's a full time turkey and you're a part time turkey hunter". What he was getting at is I spend 2 months of the year trying to kill'em, and they spend their entire life trying to survive, which is why many of them kick our arse day in and day out, as much as we try to not let it happen. All in all, that is what makes it so fun to me, the ever-changing challenge that they throw at you day in and day out.

Me too, no doubt about it. On the other hand, if you don't bump a bird or two a year, you are not being aggressive enough IMO.

Anytime I start getting a little impatient and remind my elf that all a turkey has to do in this world is exist, it really puts things in perspective. I like what Andy writes above; 2 months a year vs. every day of that turkey's life? That turkey's got far more experience doing his thing than we have doing our thing.

Funny thing is, I can sit and wait on monsta'buck waaaaaaaaay longer than a gobbler. Go figure?

Another good quote to remember,

I went into a store once and the old man behind the counter asked me,

Do any good?

I said naw they outsmarted me today.

His reply, Son it means a hell of a lot more to them than it does to you.

this is one thing that ive come to realize in my 2nd season as a hard turkey hunter......i get way to impatient and reposition too much.....since forcing myself to stay put ive had 2 opportunities at toms.....one miss one kill
