Headed to the land again to try to move closer on this bird. Can't decide if I should try no decoys and see what happens

This guy is hard to get. I ended up posting up about 15 yards away from the tree he was rooster in and had no idea. I watched him fly down into the field about 75 yds in from my decoys. Then he went farther away downhill. About 20 mins later I see his head coming back and headed toward where I sat the past two times. What gives! I get close he goes to where I was yesterday. This is one smart bird and he is on my last nerve. I was going to try a run n gun but that's hard when he won't gobble. He's only done 1 time in the field and once in the woods.

I know how you feel.

I called and chased a bird today all friggin day. I was on WMA land, he was on private land the whole time. He had hens at least part of the time and would gobble but not commit. One point he was so close his gobble was like thunder... He was behind a fence/shrub row just out of sight and wouldn't come in. Got busted by one of his hens but he had at least one more who yelped at me but didn't come to check me out. There were gaps in the fence they could have crossed. But the cows came in and the birds went away. Not that the cows scared them, I just heard as each gobble got farther away and cows took the place of the birds. But... I'm not giving up my season yet.

i have called it quits man...unless I make it out this coming Saturday...but its to the point to where I am not worried about it because its getting quiet and the one i have been chasing is just a young jake.
