So last year I bought this 20 year old PSE compound to get introduced into archery. Well, first of the year I am going to bite the "arrow" and get me a new bow. Since I got plenty of time I'm starting my research and need some guides or lists of what to look for in a bow. I'm not brand loyal so my only wants right now are hard hitting and smooth drawing. I am favoring a smaller design but not if it means I have to give up that much velocity.
So guys, point me in the direction of some reviews, sites or whatever else for a first time buyer.

One thing I would say is don't worry so much about velocity and look for one you can shoot accurate. Shoot as many as you can and pick the one that you like or fits you the best.

X2

Pick up as many bows as you can and buy the one that feels right. Dont fall into the marketing schemes.

I would start out by shooting several different brands. as far as the smaller model if you're just starting out you want one that is taller like 34 1/2 to 35 in. cam to cam as opposed to some that are 31 or 32 in.

What is your draw length? I say that because my draw length is 29 with d loop and I never felt comfortable shooting bows around 31". I opted to stay in the 34" axle to axle area.
