Line for catfish poles?

What # test do you like to use on your catfish poles?

I fish for blues on Old Hickory and use 40 mono with a 40 mono leader.

Have caught them up to 60 lbs withthat,prefer mono over braid cause I get hung up a lot.

If I'm in open water I throw BIG Game 20lb. If I'm in wood I throw BIG GAME 40lb. If your drag is right it's gonna take a monster to break 20lb. If you're gonna fish both or don't have enough reels, I'd run 40lb main line and just change the leader test.

25# main line, 40# shock leader, 15-20# drop line for sinker all mono. i only drift fish for blues and use a 3 way rig. i set my drag for 30% of main line weight regardless of which rod its on. with a smooth drag and properly set you dont teally need any line heavier than 20-30# main line for blues or flatheads. you can go even lighter for channel cats. the shock leader keeps break offs down no matter what rig you use. catfish mouths are like sandpaper.
