Never been so excited to see a 12 pound jake hit the ground. Birds gobbled good Saturday morning, but we couldn't get where we really needed to because of all the hens between us and there. It was my first time on the farm so we were going in blind listening at daylight. We decided to sit just up the hill from the field they were roosted around and try to call one away. I got him sat down in my gobbler lounger and stuck some branches around to hide us. The hens, which we were only 75-80 yards from, were as vocal as I've ever heard, and the gobblers - 300-400 yards away, were pretty excited too. We had a hen come in early, and about 7:00 this guy left the others and came up the hill yelping and looking. Jack asked me in a shaky whisper "can I shoot this one," I said yes and then I started shaking right before he dropped the hammer. One I won't forget.
