No poisonous look alike for the lobster mushrooms.I've never seen one. Are there any poisonous look-alikes?
Dehydrating most of them. Used the trimmed of parts to make several gallons of broth and freezing it by the quart. Froze the mushroom parts from the broth to throw in stir fry and soups. How are you processing them? Kinda surprising you are finding mushrooms as dry and hot as it's been.
From what I've read...the "lobster" part of it is actually some kind of "something" that gets on mushrooms and turns them that color. Said a lobster mushroom could actually be just about any mushroom underneath. No poisonous look alike for the lobster mushrooms.
You pick some jack-lanterns and throw them in a dish, you're going to have a bad couple of days for sure.Interesting. Looks like a dyed-orange oyster mushroom. And as for look alikes, I could see how someone would confuse a jack-o-lantern with those. Bad news.
