Found several in the last week or so. They are pretty darn tasty.

How are you processing them? Kinda surprising you are finding mushrooms as dry and hot as it's been.
Dehydrating most of them. Used the trimmed of parts to make several gallons of broth and freezing it by the quart. Froze the mushroom parts from the broth to throw in stir fry and soups.

No poisonous look alike for the lobster mushrooms.
From what I've read...the "lobster" part of it is actually some kind of "something" that gets on mushrooms and turns them that color. Said a lobster mushroom could actually be just about any mushroom underneath.
Kinda weird actually. Like some kind of parasitic fungus or something.
I read something that said the tested otherwise toxic shrooms that had it, and they tested safe to eat. Don't take my word for that. Somehow it changed the mushroom that it gets on.

Interesting. Looks like a dyed-orange oyster mushroom. And as for look alikes, I could see how someone would confuse a jack-o-lantern with those. Bad news.

You pick some jack-lanterns and throw them in a dish, you're going to have a bad couple of days for sure.

Unkle picked and ate some wild mushrooms when I was young, he almost died, I have seen some out in the woods I know were edible but can't bring myself to chance it.
