What is your favorite locator calls? I use a crow and hawk but rarely have any luck with either, except when the crow gets real crows going and that is often successful. As for an owl call, I've never had one gobble back. I would be interested to hear what everyone here uses. Thanks.

I will use an owl hooter if they don't do it on their own. I can count the times on one hand I've had a bird gobble at a crow call. Couple weeks ago I had 3 birds strutting at 80 yards when some clown walked up to the edge of the woods and started yammering away on a crow call. All 3 folded up out of strut and hurried off. There is NO way they saw the guy. For whatever reason it spooked them.

Never use em. Aggressive cutting on the turkey call if I want to try and get a gobble. Real crows often make a hot gobbler sound off.

I always carry a crow call in my vest. Like to use it when trying to get position on a gobbler. I won't call to a gobbler until I get to where I think I can kill 'em.

Owl on roost... Crow mid-day

^^This^^

Do it right and at the right time, and they work well!

Many times I have gotten real owls cranked up, laughing and all, and that will get a gobbler to go crazy.

owl on roost if its a new area i have never hunted other than that just wait for em to crank, mid day maybe an crow but more than likely a yelp!

ditto

Wood duck call. It works where i hunt. It is sight specific for sure. We have alot of crowes so turkeys rarely gobble at them. Wood ducks on the other hand.......

the owl hooter is one of my greatest tools. Especially on the roost. I have literally had thousands (PLURAL) of gobbles at my HS owl call. I am big in roosting in the evening and believe it is important to set up close to a roosted turkey as the first few shades of light come over the horizon. The owl call does that for me.

Haven't had alot of birds not gobble at an owl hoot right at daylight. I mostly use a tube call to locate birds once their on the ground, mixed in with a little crow and hawk.
