I left my release in the woods at Prentice Cooper last weekend and need a new one. I'm lookin to spend up to $100. What should I get? Thinking bout a hook wrist release. What are some pros and cons and what do you guys shoot.

Also, What makes a $100 release better than a $50 release?

If I lost my old truball that I've used for years, I would be buying a truball short-n-sweet today. It is adjustable for length, trigger poundage, it is a hook style and it has a very crisp and clean release. There are two models to pick from....I would go with the S2, but that is a personal choice. You can get it with a buckle strap (my preference), or Velcro strap.

I was using that handheld release when I came to your house but after cranking my bow to 70lbs I couldn't keep consistent groups so I switched back to my wrist strap. I will check out the tru ball ones for sure.

For about 3 years I have been wanting a new release, and finally pulled the . . . I bought a new one. Scott Little Goose, brand new $50 on ebay shipped. I have been very very happy with it.

eBay seems like the way to go.

Anybody prefer the nylon strap over the straight shaft? I would also like it to be easy to tuck away so I can go ahead and have it on before I go in the woods and not have it bangin and clangin on everything.

I shot a Scott for years and had no complaints. Until I picked up a Carter. Since shooting the Carter, I can really tell the difference between a high quality release with a crisp zero trigger travel, and the other stuff. If you've never shot both, then you probably would be like me and not know any different, but once you have shot both, you can tell a big difference. I had my wife shooting a Scott Little Bitty Goose and one day she had misplaced it and wanted to shoot. So she grabbed my Carter RX2 and went to the yard. She came back in and said I wasn't getting my release back...and I didn't. I had to buy myself a new one. She took the other Carter over.

The only release in recent yrs that I have shot that comes close to the Carter...is the TruBall Fang. I really liked that one when I shot it at the local shop.

I've got two T.R.U.Ball shortNsweets. One buckle and one velcro. Love them. If I lost mine I would buy another. I bought mine when they first came out. The velcro One is the first one I ever laid eyes on. I bought it sight unseen and I have been happy with it ever since.

True Fire Hardcore Max, most comfortable and best groups. Shot a lil bitty goose for several years and had problems side to side. I noticed it was a single caliper, so I tried the hardcore max and groups shrank to significantly.

I am planning on buying this Nitrous tru glo release as I have tried it on and love the caliper dial that tightens it to your wrist one Micro "click" at a time....notice the black dial on the left side of the photo!!! I freaking love this feature as I hate Velcro and this allows you to dial in the exact tightness you want......I am ocd about this and I am constantly readjusting my ol pull strap one from trufire. Look into this if it is an attractive feature and it is the only release offered with a dial adjustment that I currently know of!!! :)

same as crow tried the scott lil goose and carter quickie which my friend uses and loves. After shooting both I went with the carter quickie and my buddy is gonna get one soon. But the scott release is a fine one as well

If anyone wants to try the most adjustable trigger in any wrist release look at the Carter Like Mike. Dont freak out when you see the price tag. There is a lot of engineering and quality that goes into the release. Its the only wrist release with double sears and target quality components built into a wrist release platform.

I went with the Scott Rhino XT. I like the trigger style on them. I don't really like the feeling of a swept back trigger. I also went with the buckle strap of course and the NCS (Nylon Strap) so I can tuck it away until I need to use it. Got it off Amazon for a good deal!
