I have a 1 1/2 - 2 lb piece of elk brisket I am wanting to cook up for our Superbowl get together. I don't have a smoker and was thinking of doing it in a slow cooker with a homemade BBQ sauce. Any ideas or tried and true recipes? Could be a recipe for beef or venison and I can just substitute the elk.

TIA

I'm not a fan of using bbq sauce to do one in the oven. How opposed to corning the brisket and serving it that way??? I'd recommend that every time in favor of "oven BBQ".

If you start the corning brine tonight, it will be ready in time to rinse & braise on Sunday

You can smoke it on a charcoal grill for a few hours and then wrap in foil and finish in the oven at 250 degrees.

I have not had a bite of elk in years....
Post your results please!

Well it was a hit. The brisket cooked in the crock pot with the beef ribs for 10 hours on low, covered in the black cherry bourbon sauce. It was incredibly tender and really tasty. I was just about in a meat coma last night.
