I have hunted with and killed 90% of my birds with an 870supermag. But lately I have wanted to buy a nicer semiauto to hunt with.

Narrowed it down to the Franchi Intensity and the Winchester SX3, both in bottomland.

Anybody have and reasons for one over the other? Really like them both any can't decide. Thanks for any help

I don't like the Winchester it's heavy as lead, and have no experience with the Franchi

If I were buying a new gun tomorrow, I would either get a M2 Bennelli or a SBE2 Benelli. I shoot a sbe2 now, but could easily use a M2 with no issues.

I love my SX3. Not too heavy, shoots 3.5s, has handled everything I have put through it from light target loads to heavy duck and turkey. Mine is the 28 inch barrel Max 4 camo model. For me it is a good all around gun.

I would love to have a SBE2 but really don't have the $$ for one. That's why I'm looking at the Franchi

I've had good success with my SX3. Like you I've killed a bunch of birds with an 870, just wanted an auto.
My SX3 is a 26" with a jellyhead choke, I'm shooting magnum blends thru it. Need to pattern the longbeards just ran out of time.
My suggestion would be to handle and shoot both, but if you really want a SBE2, shoot it as well. Then if you still want it save some more and buy it.
I really believe if a gun fits right, you'll be a better shot.

It comes down to what type of action you want. I'm a fan of the simplicity and ease of cleaning on the inertia action so I'd prefer the franchi personally.

If you like a gas operation then the sx3 is a better choice

I wouldn't describe the SX3 as heavy either. I used one for about 5 months and sold it. I noticed a difference in recoil between it and my SBE (which I still had at the time) with dove loads but, no difference with anything heavier.

I decided that I liked the Benelli better and this would be an easy choice for me. I'd pick the Franchi if I had to pick between the 2.

also the Franchi is lighter but not by much.

franchi is 6.7lbs
SX3 is 7.0 - 7.2lbs depending on barrel length

also another thing to consider is the Franchi comes with a 7 year warranty which is one of the longest in the business

Yeah I loved the feel of the Franchi too. And I can get one ordered fairly easily, So it looks like thats what I'll be shooting

stringtalker that what I have single shot h&r full choke 3"20ga. it will hammer those big birds. I shoot heavy weight 3" it thump me hard. but I like buying guns. I got semi and pumps but I always take the h&r.
