Lost Tribe Traditional Archery Shoot 7/11 at Herb Parsons park. Come out Saturday and have a great time. Low cost, Max fun. It is a tradiotnal shoot, so only people with REAL archery equipment shoot, but the club has gear you can borrow if you want to try archery as it was meant to be!

I did not ask Bill the head count. Seemed like alot of folks there, even with the Africa heat. It was a good course this month, (they are all alot of work and it is appreciated) but this time it went on the back side of the lake.
As usual, a great time for all.

So the biker riders and hiker that dont pay lake fees, fishing license, etc finally got their way and pushed the club out of sight. I heard that was a big complaint for the past couple of years and the bait shop owner is catering to them.

I may have written my reply wrong, I meant they just used the range(s) down the trail on the right, on the backside away from the clubhouse, not ALL the way on the other side of the lake.
You are right about the riders and hikers. But if you talk to the TWRA ranger, Mr. Boyce, he will let you know in a hurry that HE runs that park, not the clubs, riders, etc.
I have alot of faith in him to keep letting the archery go on.
I wish the state would let the club build up way in the back though. Too many times the people ride right up on the ranges when we are shoooting. They don't care at all. It is a multi-use park.

I belong to the the local mtn bike club and the membership is good about avoiding the shoots and keeps an "event calander" with the shoots up on their website. There are lots of riders who don't belong to the club or visit the site though and they probably don't have a clue what's going on. There are miles and miles of other trails all around the lake and there's no reason to be anywhere near the shooters during an event. The club puts many hours of hard work into keeping up the trails around there. The TWRA doesn't really look after anything except right around the parking side of the lake. I've never heard any bike club member say they wanted the archery activities to stop.

I do not know if the riders I have encountered belonged to a club or not. I try to be polite, but still inform them that they are rolling thru where a live fire event is going on. Over the years I must say, most of them have been very polite back, but every once in a while, you get one that cops some attitude. I have read internet traffic here and there and some of that has been less than happy with the archery goings on.
It takes all types to make the world go round. Did not mean to offend.

No offense taken at all. I run into mtn bikers that I think are jerks fairly often. I'm sure some of them think I'm a jerk too. Didn't mean to hijack the thread. Hope to make it out to a shoot sometime but I work most weekends.

even though I havent made any of the LT shoots this year (due to work and timing), I heard several comments last year concerning this. the year before the club was allowed to set up on the other side of the bay behind the club building but last year, the times I went, new paths were cut closer to the road and near some houses. the TWRA officer that I go to the shoot with asked what was the deal and he was told the hikers and bikers got to complaining. that is what I based my comments on.

Some of the folks from both Wolf river bowhunters and Lost tribe "were" shooting at Parsons at the range on week nights. I think it was Tuesdays, but I would have to check the forums on both sites to be sure.

Folks are still shooting Tuesday nights on the range. We usually get a a target of two and shoot for fun. If we had a few more people show up we could get out 5-6 targets and have a fun shoot.
