looks like it will be available 1qtr 2019. looks like they will be utilizing some of garmins patent trades. competition is good, now garmin needs to upgrade their echomap lines to stay competitive.

Re: Lowrance HDS Live series

found the announcement. sounds like they announced it on faceytweet and in europe. looks like they are adding in a 4 core processor, which raymarine already uses. should be great and to be honest i dont know why all manufacturers dont use quad cores. they arent that much more expensive and dual cores.

Lowrance® today announced the new HDS LIVE ™ series, the fishfinder / fish finders that redefine the way they fish and interact with their surroundings. In addition to being an important step forward in fishing technology, HDS LIVE offers new sonar, cartographic and realtime connectivity features, including Active Imaging ™, LiveSight ™, Genesis Live and LiveCast ™ smartphone integration, all in a new design to lowered profile with edge-to-edge glass.
"In recent years, the way fishermen use the echo sounders has changed because the technologies and capabilities available have evolved," said Leif Ottosson, CEO and President of the Navico Group. "With HDS LIVE we have brought fishing to a completely new level. These fish finders / fish finders not only improve fish searching and navigation, but offer entertainment features to enjoy a unique fishing experience. After 60 years, Lowrance continues to redefine the reference standards for the world of fishing. "
Live sonar
Active Imaging - An industry-leading level of detail and image quality, as well as coverage never before achieved by other sonar imaging technologies. Anglers will be able to explore the seabed even more quickly and easily identify fish thanks to the award-winning CHIRP Lowrance sonar technology together with SideScan and DownScan Imaging ™. In addition, the FishReveal ™ feature offers a level of clarity of the markings unmatched. Simple to use, the 800 kHz setting offers ultra-detailed crystal images without compromising their range. For anglers who require a vision of more than 36 meters, Active Imaging can also work at 455 kHz. For existing StructureScan® 3D modules, a software update will be available,
LiveSight- Allows you to fish in real time, detecting up to the minimum movement of the fish. With LiveSight it will be possible to observe the reaction of the fish in the presence of the bait or how they relate to the structure, offering an exact picture of the situation to decide how to act. With LiveSight Forward it is possible to install the sonar towards the bow, to obtain a front view, to identify the fish. Used together with the Lowrance GPS Point-1 antenna, an innovative indicator, will show directly on the map the direction to which the transducer is pointing, allowing the fishermen to align with a waypoint or locate the structure where to throw the bait. The LiveSight Down view offers a real-time view under the hull, ideal for "vertical jigging" or "drop shot" fishermen.
Live mapping
C-Map Genesis Live - An incredibly intuitive and real-time cartographic experience. Users can control the transparency and density of contours traced on the screen, up to 15cm intervals, in addition to customizing bathymetric colors and much more. Maps can be saved quickly and easily on an SD card for continuous use.
Live smartphone integration
LiveCast - HDS LIVE is the echo sounder suitable for a connected style. It offers anglers the opportunity to enjoy the entertainment content on their smartphone, directly on the HDS LIVE touchscreen while the phone is stored in a safe place. The contents can be viewed in full screen or on portions, via HDMI connection, offering the ability to play streaming video, view the maps of Google Maps and fishing data.
New design, 3 mounting options Low profile profile with edge-to-edge glass, SolarMAX ™ HD ultra-bright screen, bracket mounting options, flush-mounted front or rear, user-programmable quick selection keys and a Bluetooth® remote control optional. Display of 7, 9, 12 and 16 inches. Re: Lowrance HDS Live series

The technological world is so fast. There not just making small improvements there changing the game constantly. It's easy to go broke trying to keep up. What's better keeping up with new technology or finding one and sticking with it once you know it's ins and outs? I have been using the Solix all year and still don't think I interpret things as easy on it as I did the Axiom.

Re: Lowrance HDS Live series

yeah thats why im staying 1 or 2 gens behind, other than the ones i install or help install for other people, and the main reason i kept the echomaps. if they break, throw them away and buy another head. pretty bad deal if guys always upgrading and then have one or two fail 6 months out of warranty. an out of warranty replacement on a gen3 hds is 1100 bucks plus the broken head.

just how much tech do we need to catch fish anyway? heck, with a good lake map you can rule out 80% of unproductive water before even leaving the house.

thats basically what they want you to do, is buy a new unit. thats why a replacement/repair is so high.

Some guys ive heard tradeing in bad units was about half what a new one would cost. And that was the cost and getting the updated newer unit. But only know of a couple cases like that myself.
