just saw on og that people are having trouble out of the new magnumblends just like the hevi 13. seems they changed the wads in both. and they are not patterning good. only seen one or two topics on it so far. luckily I have some boxes of older magnumblends. but I bought some new boxes the other day. I will shoot both here in a few weeks when it warms up a little. and see if they shoot the same out of my gun. just a heads up. pattern your gun before season please. may be making the switch to nitros if it does not pattern good.

for such an expensive and well-used load, why do they change it and screw their customers over?

its all about overhead and profit. even more so when you are in the tungsten business. the price of it has gone WAY up so in order to provide a product folks will still buy they have to save money somewhere.

i have a bunch of the last year or before so it doesn't bother me, and just to add it may shoot just as good as it did just needs a different choke then before. time and testing will tell.

also those reports so far are from the 3" but id assume the 3.5 would be the same.

no idea not happy right now luckily I have two boxes left that are no doubt good. but not sure about the new boxes. hopefully they get the message. just called a local gun shop and he said people aren't happy with them. that he is switching to the long beards. I will shoot them in a few weeks and just see how they do. maybe I got a couple good boxes. I understand in a little bit with the money but I would had rather they just raised the prices just a little instead.

That sucks!!! I have 8 shells from last year or maybe the year before. I bought 1 additional box a month ago because I got a new shotgun.

Let's make sure we all post pics and compare the results.

I know where 3 or 4 boxes are from last year. Looks like I'll be buying them for my once a year 12 gauge to tin stash.

I just acquired a 3-1/2" gun so it sucks that I won't be able to get any good shells for it

I would like the chance to talk to the hevi shot guy at the convention

I plan on doing that also. just wanted to give people a heads up though.
They are usually not at the convention. Normally, Mid South Shooters Supply out of Clarksville mans the Hevi-Shot booth.

I got an email back today from Mike Goodwill at Hevi-Shot and he said that they have not changed the wadding or anything from their past "formulas" and that they should be shooting the pattern. He did ask me about what kinds of change in pattern I had experienced, but since I have plenty left from past years I told him I could not answer it and only going off of reports from various people across the web. So, if anyone has noticed anything from a new batch let me know ASAP.

And this is why I now roll my own. Don't have to worry about changes in any components. Don't have to worry about a company discontinuing my favorite load. Don't have to worry about consistency from batch to batch. Don't have to worry about finding pellets smaller than 9 shot in my shells that were supposed to have nothing smaller than 6s. Only thing I worry about now is the price of the tungsten I load. In the next couple of years, however, I will stock up on that -- much to my wife's chagrin -- and won't have anything left to worry about regarding turkey shells.

Just to draw an analogy, I had a Stanley thermos for years -- one of the old heavy duty green ones made in Nashville. It quit keeping my coffee hot, so I availed myself to the lifetime warranty and they sent me a new one. The new one? Made in China. About half the weight of the old one -- holding one in each hand. The new one felt flimsy. The metal has give to it and would dent if I dropped a marble on it. (cheaper lighter metal = cheaper shipping from China = higher profits). I called to bich about it and was told "we haven't changed anything. The thermos design is exactly the same." Bullshit.

They change materials and cut corners where they can so they can increase profit margin. If they believe that the name alone will carry the product (Both Stanley and Hevi shot were well established companies) -- many companies will skimp on production cost to increase profits.

I just wish I could make my own coffee thermoses.
