Started making bamboo tube calls again. I need a new and better one for this upcoming season. I tried airbrushing it with a blow torch, but it developed a hairline crack so I guess that's not a good idea. I filled the crack in with glue and finished the call with a notched reed, to give it a slightly raspy flavor.
This may or may not be my call for the spring... could just be a warm-up. It's a little smaller and more high-pitched than I prefer, but so far it sounds good. Also it has that fracture so I may just build a new one to take with me in the spring.
Anyway I thought I would share a better pic of the type of call I have used to call and kill all 4 of my birds to date... (1 spring jake and 3 fall hens) I will see how it does this coming spring on a public land gobbler.
