Mariota will be in top 5, Redskins will not pass on him no matter the bad pro day. imo

You think, even with RG 3. Mariota seems like a good guy and I hope he does well.
RG3 is the next Locker, he will be gone in 3 years or less due to being beat in the ground. I think mariota is physically tougher than RG3. If the skins remotely act interested they will take him, or the jets will offer them late round picks to move up to grab him. Imo

I know that I am not a part of this public pm, but this comes from the article that you posted a link to, baddnole:

Bridgewater wasn't great at his pro day last year, and he fell all the way to No. 32. The Minnesota Vikings picked him there, at the last pick of the first round. Never mind that Bridgewater was fantastic at Louisville and generally considered a prime quarterback prospect before the pre-draft evaluation period. Of course, Bridgewater had a fantastic rookie season with the Vikings. A lot of teams who were desperate at quarterback passed on Bridgewater, perhaps in part because he didn't look impressive at pro day. They surely would like to do that over.

So Mariota, by nearly every account, didn't have a great pro day. Don't expect NFL teams to overreact too much to that this time around.

What's it matter who gets picked first how had the better pro day blah blah??

^^^^ This stuff is not gonna prove anything, How many QB's were took in the top 10 of the NFL draft and never did anything?? Example Jack locker picked #8 played 4 seasons and his now retired. You guys have already talked about RG3 #2 pick has did nothing. Sam Bradford pick #1 in 2010 his played OK his no big star like everyone said he would be.

So just because Winston may be picked #1 and Mariota may be picked 10th Shows me nothing. Ask players like Tom Brady (6th round pick #199) and Russell Wilson ( 3ed round pick #75) If the best QB taking in the draft, is always the first off the board and the one who had the best pro day.

This could be said about every player at every position, pros and college. If I am picking players for my team give me number one picks at every position, college and pros. Why do teams spend so much money on scouting and recruiting.Everyone gets lucky, like Brady. Now they need to be coached

private workouts will come next . when I first saw McShay on espn he said Mariota had an overall good pro-day,but not great One thing about Mariota. he will struggle at first as he is forced to learn a new system. At your proday, you want to be able to show case skills that you have refined. Mariota is having to think throw a 3 or 5 step drop he isn't use to yet. he did some 7 step drops, which he has no experience at all with. But everyone needs to remember. here is a 70+ percentage qb with the best td to interception ratio ever. in fact Winston threw as many picks this yr as Mariota did in a 3 year career where he started every singe game and did so with average receivers. There is a reason Mariotas receivers have always been and will continue to be open- he is such a dangerous runner. The hardest thing in the world to do is to cover a receiver for more than a few seconds. Mariota can escape the pocket with with ease and make safeties come up in pursuit...The result.... a wide open receiver and nobody throw better on the run as mariota. He has a strong arm, lightning fast release, and high release point. There will be growing pains, but he is too great of an athlete, worker and human to pass. If he ends up Philadelphia (which I actually hope he does if the Titans don't get him), they will be the most exciting team in the NFL- add murray and Matthews in the back field- LOOKOUT

It is a lot easier to complete a pass to your backfield than down field. I really hope Mariota has a good career, but he will need to change everything including his wanting to run first. No guarantee Winston or Mariota will make it but, I would take my chance and gamble my coaching career on one qb being ready to play from day one and that is Winston.

I know it can be said about every player and every position.

Like how J.J watt was not even a top 10 pick and his now the best defensive player in the NFL. In the same draft Jack Locker was picked #8 and Blain Gabbert has picked #10 really??

How about 2010, were Tim Tebow was a top 25 pick lol worked out well;)
and what some call the best TE in the NFL Rob Gronkonski was picked #42 he was not even the first TE off the board.
O yeah Dez Bryant was picked 1 spot above Tebow lol think his what a top 3 receiver in the NFL now?
And Jimmy graham was picked 95th!!! Some are already calling him a Hall of farmer.

So I like watching the draft and reading Mock drafts and so on, but just because a player is picked at #1 or #2 don't mean his gonna be the best or even make it in the NFL.

Since 2001, ten QB's were picked #1 overall.

2001, Michael Vick, 4 pro bowls in 14 year 0 super bowls.

2002 David carr, Carr was considered to be one of the biggest quarterback busts in NFL history since 1980, and was ranked 10th on Fox Sports' list of worst No. 1 overall picks in NFL Draft history.

2003, Carson palmer, 2 pro bowls in 12 years 0 super bowls.

2004, Eli manning, 3 pro bowls 2 Superbowls.

2005, Alex smith, 1 pro bowl in ten years.

2007, JaMarcas Russel, ..............

2009, Matthew Stafford, 1 pro bowl O super bowls in 6 years.

2010, Sam Bradford, won rookie of the year 5 seasons ago, Not did much since.

2011, Cam Newton, rookie of the year and 2 pro bowls.

2012, Andrew Luck, 3 pro bowls.

So the last 14 drafts 10! QBs were picked #1
Eli, Luck and possibly Cam some may say Vick, these 4 guys may be the only ones who will live up to the #1 best player in there drafts so far.

4-10 less then 50'/,

Matthew stafford and Sam Bradford, could end up good players later on but still don't think they will ever live up to all the hype and the #1 pick they got years ago.

As stated before,If Im gonna start a team give me # 1's and go from there. Coaching means alot also. Like Bowden used to say " I'll take mine and beat you, then I'll take yours and win." Bobby was a lot younger then.

And you think Tampa bay a program who has hit the 10 win mark only 4 times in the last 14 years is the team to coach up Winston and turn him into a star?
Tampa bay is 17-47 in the last 4 seasons?

Now they could take Winston at #1 and he turn the program around I just don't see it. I see him being a Matthew stafford or sam Bradford after 5 and 6 seasons in the NFL. An ok to good QB and thats about it.

If Tampa takes winston, super bowl within three years.
right :tu: Andrew Luck was only the best pro ready QB to come outta college in like forever. And his a better QB on a better team, and in 3 years his played amazing, But has not even won a AFC championship yet;)

So maybe in 5 years Winston can get Tampa bay back to th playoffs.

besides john Elway, luck was the most pro ready qb ever. them 2 had it all- smarts, athleticism, arm, mechanics, dedication and mobility. Both from Stanford BTW

yup 100'/, agree Luck is a very special QB. His done all this in 3 years.

3 × Pro Bowl (2012, 2013, 2014)
NFL Passing Touchdowns Leader (2014) (AFC)Offensive Player of the Month (November 2014)
3× AFC Offensive Player of the Week (Week 9, 2012; Week 7, 2013; Week 3, 2014).
3× Pepsi NFL Rookie of the Week (Week 3, 2012; Week 5, 2012; Week 8, 2012)
NFL Record for most passing yards in a single game by a rookie (433, Week 9, 2012)
NFL Record for passing yards in a single season by a rookie: 4,374 (2012)

His gonna be a very good football player! the best #1 overall QB pick since Eli manning in 2004.

If Winston or Mariota but up Numbers/stats EVEN close to this then I will say wow there gonna be good NFL players but I just can't see either of them throwing for 4,300+ yards in a season, leading the league in TD's, or having back to back to back 11 win seasons.

Not saying they won't be good NFL QB'S but its gonna take them a few years to get use to the NFL. they MIGHT but up #'s CLOSE to Luck's in year 4 or 5, Not year one, two, or three
