I am thinking of buying my son, who is 10, the Mission for Christmas. I have heard good things about this bow. This is his 4th year gun hunting, and after watching me shoot my bow, he is becoming interested in it also. I also have been thinking about the mission craze. Don't care if I have to pay a little more, if the craze would be better for him. My question is, Which one should I buy him, and also I am not sure what pull weight he can draw back. Just curious what draw weight would be ethical to actually shoot a deer with say at 20 yards and in. I shot one one time with 52 lb, and had a complete pass thru. I don't think he will be able to pull 50. Thanks....

If it was me, I would go with the Craze for the sole reason that the bow is fully capable of adjusting as he grows. As far as the draw weight, I think if he can pull back 40lbs that would be enough as long as he is using a super sharp coc broadhead and he hits the vitalsalot of hickory bows, that don't have that much energy, have killed deer over alot of centuries.

My son is about to turn 13 and I just bought him a [color:#FF6600]Mission Craze. Great bow, but may be heavy for a 10 year old. I picked up my 10 year old a barely used [color:#000099]Diamond Cutter 10-30 pound with all kinds of draw length adjustment. I got the Diamond for a great price in the ArcheryTalk classifieds. It's much lighter than the Craze, so he can shoot longer and not develop bad habits. To hunt, I'd say minimum 40, but would be more comfortable with 45.

my wife shot hers with 43 i think, complete pass through with rage 2 blade..about the lowest id go is 40 though..

My son is 10,just got him the menace a couple weeks ago his is set at 23in and 42 lbs. it will go to 30in and 52lbs. Really easy to change DL just take out 1screw on each cam and rotate to desired DL

I think I would go with the Craze. I know both bows can grow with him. However, if I am remembering right, you can get more poundage out of the Craze for later down the road.

Thanks for the advice. I am going with the craze. I do like the fact you can get more poundage with the shorter draw lengths. My local Bow shop has them for $259. Which is not bad. I will get him a whisker bisquit rest, and all the other things for it, and have him measured for draw length and everything after he gets it for Christmas.

He can start at a lower poundage and slowly increase as his muscles get stronger. When I first started, 30 pounds seemed to be too much. Now I'm pulling 55 with no problem. As for killing a deer, a young boy brought his to the checking station years back that he killed with a 20 inch draw, 30 pounds and expandables. A good shot is what matters.

craze is a good bow.i got one for bowfishing and it is crazy how much you can adjust this bow.for a kid it would be great because of the range of adjustability it has.also really easy to adjust.short axle to axle i think you made a good choice.
