I thought some of you may enjoy reading these two articles. I read the first article few years back when I was researching maximum effective range of #4, 5 & 6 lead shot. I was shooting Win HV #4s at the time. This particular article shed's some light on the maximum range of certain shot sizes in lead, steel and tungsten composite based on the author's predetermined criteria. The second article talks about 3" vs. 3.5" shells and the differences based on the author's testing and experiences. I am not advocating that these articles are the end all in turkey hunting loads, but that there is most likely something beneficial for all to be gleaned from each of them. Keep in mind the first article was done back 2006-2008 timeframe (right before HTL loads were taking off) and the second one just last spring. I hope these are informative in some way for all that take the time to read them. Enjoy and good luck turkey hunting this spring!
