It's buried in several threads in the turkey forum, but I wanted to put it all in one place. TWRA presented their hunting season recommendations to the Tennessee Fish and Wildlife Commission in April. The TFWC will vote on the 20-21 and 21-22 seasons during the May meeting on 5/28 and 5/29. Many have expressed that things need to be done with turkey seasons / limits to help the overall population. Right now is the time to express those concerns for not only turkey seasons but deer and all other hunting seasons as well.

The proposals for the next two seasons can be found at the link below:

https://www.tn.gov/content/dam/tn/twra/ ... pdates.pdf

1) TWRA is requesting input on these proposals until 5/15. You can send an email to [email protected]. with the title "Hunting Season Comments."

2) Now is time to email the commissioners with your comments. They make the final vote on the seasons and do look at the comments. Their email and info can be found here.

https://www.tn.gov/twra/tennessee-fish- ... ssion.html

3) Normally they allow public participation at these meetings which usually has more pull than anything but really not sure how they will do this with the virus going around.

They may or may not make any changes and may or may not do exactly what you ask, however, you can at least do your part to voice your opinion at a minimum of two ways and maybe three.

I sent mine in this week both to the TWRA and TWFC. Will you as well???

Did anyone notice slide 148 where TVA wants the Gallitian Steam plant WMA & Old Hickory WMA removed and become a 12 million CU Yard coal ash dump site?? Can't believe we would allow that as sportsman.

Yep. Just check out what happened in Kingston. It's still killing people today.

Yeah and they made the taxpayers pay for most of the clean up while all the big wigs were raking in Millions in salary and bonus. I had a buddy that was a TVA cop, he would go down there after spill and give "security" (sleep in his car) for it. He made $187K that year.

I sent my comments in last night and had a quick note back by this morning from one of the Commissioners I know well thanking me for sending them in and how important it is to hear from our hunters and fishermen. I got the impression that some of the issues discussed in this forum are being looked at and that public input could influence the ultimate decisions.

While I am not confident that I will get anything I asked for, I have at least tried. It is like my Daddy told me many years ago when I was grousing about how much trouble it was to go vote and that my one vote didn't mean anything. He told me that is fine and that if I didn't want to exercise the rights that some of his fellow soldiers payed for in blood that I could stay home. But, he also told me that if I didn't vote, he didn't want to hear one word out of me griping about anything the president did or didn't do. I voted.

I hope you all will take just a minute and give the agency your input. You don't have to write a novel. Just give them a quick outline of any changes you would like to see. There is a link posted earlier in this thread for submitting your season recommendations. I also sent a Cc to the officers of the commission, the commissioner over my district, and all of the statewide commissioners. Here is a link to all of their email addresses: https://www.tn.gov/twra/tennessee-fish- ... ssion.html

Please don't expect a response. But, I can assure you that most of them are wading through the comments they get. And, if you participate and don't get what you want, you at least have room to complain later. Sitting on your hands, not so much.

Thanks, Steve

Well said and sage advice. Make your voice heard, send your comments in.

Comments and thank you sent to TWRA, as well as comments and thank you sent to TFWC Commissioners (group email) and Cc'd Mr. Hatcher, Mr. Salyers and Governor Lee. All comments and emails saved to my hard drive so I can build off of them in out years.

Got mine sent in last night and received the auto reply thank you. Fingers are crossed that they finally listen this year so we can try to right the ship before it's ultimately too late.

I sent mine a while back, they may not do anything I said but I tried to keep others in mind and not just what I wanted. I guess I kind of compromised for both sides of the argument. I truly hope the future gets better for those areas that have been struggling and that areas that have done well continue to thrive. I hunt counties that are definitely not anywhere near the top in kills ( probably near the bottom) but I heard plenty and seen more Jakes than I can remember in recent years! I finally left one area , they gobbled so good it fooled me several times! I enjoyed it though and know that will only make it better next year. Good luck to anyone giving it one more try.
