It's starting to look more like I might just buy new strings and arrows for my bow. I still like shooting it and I know it can kill deer if I make the right shot (like with any weapon). I would like to buy a new compact camera for videoing hunts, one with a much better mic and higher optical zoom. Then I can use my old cam as backup for a second viewpoint if I want. I got to do my registration on the truck this month and pay another bill among other things, so a new bow doesn't seem like the best idea. I usually pick the camera I like and then try to find a refurbished demo or a return camera in the box that is basically brand new for a small fraction of retail cost. I would be happier with a working bow (which I already have) and a new camera for this season.

Hey man , you get it done with your old bow that's all that matters . And it's your money , spend it on what you would enjoy the most .

My 2003 Triton is my back up bow in the event something happens to my bow during the middle of the season.

I was out shooting it last week for the first time since I bought my Bowtech this past January and at first was shocked at how loud it seemed and hard it seemed to pull. It jerked around quite a bit more too.

But after a few min of getting familare with it I was hitting pretty well with it. Defiantly good enough to kill deer with it if I had to. Not nearly as well on the 3d range or target range but for deer hunting ... It would be venison tonight,

I'd much rather spend my money on my bow that I use to kill deer , rather than a camera , but that's just me . I spend money on the equipment that improves my bow performance and accuracy .

I'm dying for a GO-PRO. Especially after they just came out with their new hunter mount bracket. Clamps to a gun barrel, riser on a bow or stabilizer. I had that first Stealth sports action camera and it wasn't worth a dang. Could barely tell it was a deer at 15yrs.

all the bad shots I've made on deer can be blamed on none other than myself, not the bow... I could get a better bow or better accessories to make it easier to shoot more accurately, but I need to practice shooting more than anything. Speaking of which, I'm gonna go out and shoot right now.

I understand. I've got a Simmons shotgun scope on my smoke pole that is "adequate". I want to upgrade to a Nikon muzzleloader scope but I've made some other purchases so it might go on the back burner.

If filming your hunts is more important and simply killing a deer is all you're after, your current bow will do the job. If you want to up your game potentially, bows these days are freaking amazing!

I do want to buy a newer bow, just not in time for this year's bow season.

Don't feel bad about keeping the Simmons, I have a Tasco on my .22 and last time I zoomed in, the whole crosshair reticle went sideways. :D I moved it back and now it still works fine but I can't zoom it any more.
