While browsing the latest and greatest turkey hunting gear at Academy this weekend, I met a genius.
He: You hunt turkeys?
Me: Yep
He: Me too. I hope I kill my four birds the first four days of the season. Don't you?
Me: Nope
He: Well I do so I can start fishing.
Me: You know there isn't a law saying you have to turkey hunt.
He: Yes, but the TWRA wants you to kill four turkeys.

I had to walk off after that.

That's the guy who hears the gobble, after fly down, the turkey doesn't fly in his lap, he the says, "stupid bird," gets in his truck, and he's at the Hardee's drive thru at 7:30. More for us

I love turkey hunting but my time is going to be severely limited this year. I'm normally coaching my son's baseball team and games on the weekend screw me quite a bit but this year my wife switched schools so I take the kids to school every day. She used to rotate schools so I took them 2 days one week then 3 the next. Those days I didn't take them I'd hunt for a little bit before going to the office. The closer spring gets the more its bugging me. :bash:

They've built several homes all around it so not sure what the turkeys will do. Its only 40 acres. My lease is an hour and a half away. Been in it three years and have not turkey hunted it yet. Supposed to go look at another place this weekend if it dries up but its going to be around 2 hours so may not get to turkey hunt it either if we get it. :(

well if you can ever go during the week let me know and maybe we can sneak out to one of my spots. I'm always looking for someone close by to hunt with (just more fun for me) and during the week is usually easiest for me during turkey season. you got my number so don't hesitate to use it

I appreciate it. Will have to look and see when our spring break is. Unfortunately I think its the week leading up to opening day. PM your #. I got a new phone a while back and when they transferred my contacts not everything came over and I don't have yours now.

can't be, I don't want to ever kill 4 birds in the first 4 hunts again, unless I only get to hunt 4 days the entire season.
