In my experience, it's extremely productive. In the morning it's fun because turkeys tend to gobble early in the morning, but it doesn't make them any easier to kill. Gobblers get with hens off the roost and go quiet. They then spend much of their morning breeding hens. Hens then leave and go to nest. Often, around 10 or 11, the gobbler that was "henned up" at 7:00 suddenly finds himself all alone. You get one to gobble at you after 10:00, and you're odds of killing him are better than average. Personally, it's one of my favorite times to hunt.
