Caught this guy, but was with a friend and he didn't have scales on his boat.

Put him on the Golden Rule and he was just longer than the ruler - 22.5 inches.

It's hard to tell the size from the picture but he was a very healthy fish. Wish I knew what he weighed. My previous biggest on Old Hickory was 5lb 13oz.

For your future reference, this is an amazingly accurate formula biologists use: Length X Girth X Girth /800 = Weight

For instance, a 22.5 inch bass with a 15-inch girth: 22.5 X 15 X 15 /800 = 6.3 lbs.

Tape measures are very cheap and their batteries never run down.

In general fish are just like people... they get their weight from their girth, not length (or height). As the saying goes, "I'm not fat, I'm just short for my weight." :D
