Everything went just like its supposed to except the part where I missed. I called him right off roost straight to my gun, he strutted to 25 yards and I raised his head and shot, he took off flying like i didn't even touch him. I'm still kicking myself over it. I thought I would never miss one since I put that red dot scope on my gun but apparently I was wrong.

One of my greatest fears turkey hunting. Sorry to hear that for you. I use a red dot too, and love it! Get back at it though...nothing like a good redemption hunt after such a thing.

Know the feeling...miss a couple every year it seems, it sucks until you go back and kill a big one.

Hahah you suck!

Lol it happens man, anyone who says they never miss is lying or it just hasn't happened yet.

Yup, or they haven't been hunting very long.

Called in 2 for Pop the other day...he smooth missed at 22 steps. The sinking feeling as that bird gained altitude up and over the pines...nothing quite like it. I don't even get upset these days at the occasional miss; it happens.

Missed one this evening. Had 1 Tom, 2 jakes and 2 hens come about 150 yards from me. They payed no attention to my decoys and the property i hunt is a 200 acre pasture field with big oaks and rolling hills. Once they got below the hill my Indian skills kicked in and i decided to stalk them. Came up over a hill and thought it was about 55-60 yards. The Tom pegged me and i decided to shoot. Things didn't go as planned :D

When I first started turkey hunting,I killed my first 7 birds and I got to big for my britches lol.I was telling people I dont know how someone misses with a shotgun, well I got humbled I missed my next 7 birds and I heard a old timer say if someone says they haven't missed, then they haven't killed many turkey's.

I missed the first bird that I ever shot. Sickening feeling in my stomach as i walked back to the truck. You'll get them though. Good luck.

I put a red dot on mine a couple years back. If nothing else it helps me calm down seeing that bright red dot resting on its head. You still need to try and sight the pattern in.
