Well, only heard one roost gobble this morning on a quick hunt before work...then I had SEVEN longbeards at 40 yds at 605. Of course I HAD to have the only one who was strutting that also HAD to be behind a thick bush. The rest got all around him, so I called and the all gobbled and went into strut...now I have no idea which is which! :bash: Call again, they all gobble and walk another 4-5 steps my way and I shoot AT the first one to stick his head up and whiff. A couple flew off but the rest just stood there, so I drew on another, but I just couldn't pull the trigger for some reason. Oh well, stood up and stepped it off and it was only 27 yards and I was using longbeards. I only use them when hunting fields, but I really need to work on gauging distance in that early light. I used to be real good at it, but age must be doing things to me...like not taking that second shot!
