Took a nap on the ground between some limestone bedrock, woke up to a gobble, called waited, called again, gobble very close, here he comes looking and strutting and at about 20 yards, I was drawn back and got the pin on him, he was starting to notice the bow movement a little and I had what seemed to be a clear shot until I released, and the arrow smacked off the limestone in front of me and went off in the woods and the turkey ran off. I knew the rock was a bit high and I sat up as tall as I could and waited for a clear shot at the bird but no, the rock was still too high to shoot over. Dang that was a rush now I'm thinking I may try another spot because I have called in, killed and missed multiple birds on this same ridge this year. How many times can I call a turkey on the same spot before it gets wore out lol

I had my friend shoot a barbed wire fence. I even warned him about it. Last year I was target shooting and pinged a fence by accident. THEN during the ML season I blasted one with my ML causing me to miss AND have to fix the fence! :)

My first experience with that kind of missing was when I shot through my Ameristep blind. It had three or four perfect holes where I shot through the rolled up flap. :P

Good story Cat, thanks for sharing and stay after them. I admire your willingness to put down the shotgun and take the stick and string. That adds a whole other level of doing "everything" right at the moment of truth.

I went to another spot and sat down and called around mid day and just sat and dozed off, woke up to hear crunch crunch crunch out in front of me in a thicket, so I nocked an arrow and hooked on the release and here comes a hen. She made her way to 10-15 yards before she saw me and putt putted her way around behind me and out of sight. The area was full of her scratch and a fresh dust bowl, and I jumped her out of there a few days ago. I'm assuming she's got a nest somewhere in there. It was cool, I was lookin for a beard but nope she lives to produce some chicks
