After reading the advice of others on here, I chose to make a mock scrape last Sunday afternoon and hung my first ever trail camera over my first ever mock scrape. Didn't take long for the younger deer to start hitting it.

The older bucks will be soon to follow. The general pattern of scrape visitation (both "real" and mock scrapes) is heavy usage by does and young bucks first, followed by the old/big boys in the last week or two before breeding explodes.

I sure hope so! I've got a tree I can get in with an excellent shot on this location.

I hope you the best! Just remember, hunting over scrapes wont work most of the time for older bucks. Especially being in a field like that.

I was right (at least on my place). Mature bucks are really starting to hit the scrapes. Check out this 6 1/2 year-old hog:

Looks good BSK.... I'd say he better visit all he's going to cause to many visits like that and he will get a big surprise. That's a AWESOME 8 you got there. Good luck!!

All these Pics inspired me. I just went out and made a mock scrape in an old logging road and me and my son(10)both drank big orange Gatorades about an hour ago and we both filled the scrape! we'll check it during hunt nxt wk and see what happens.
