I when out this morning and it was a little overcast. When it started to get light and the crows started to sound off the gobblers would gobble while on the roost. I used a few soft tree yelps hoping they would get a fix on my location. After it was light I caught a movement to my left out of the corner of my eye. I had three mature gobblers within fifteen feet. My gun was leading against my knee but the birds were so close I could not move. I ended up letting them walk on by and did not get a shot. I few minutes after they left I called in a Jake that came running to my decoy and stopped to fan out and strut. I could have killed him ten times over but let him walk. Today once the gobblers hit the ground they were quiet, no gobbling what so ever. It still was a good morning to be in the woods. Maybe tomorrow.

Coach, the temperture this morning was in the high 60's and by the time I left the woods it was 73-75 degrees. Very pleasant weather.

You have lots of snakes there? I've spent quite a bit of time in FL, but mostly just laying on a beach or fishing out of the Keys...never really thought about hunting there.

We have our share of snakes. Not as many as there back in the 1960's. Back then you saw rattlesnakes on the road nearly everyday, not so any more.
