No sir. "Somewhere" in the Nantahala national forest.Awesome! That's my kind of fun! Smokies?
Nice! I guess Brookies abound there as well. I love catching them, because you usually have to go a ways up and leave the roadside Orvis crowd behind. No sir. "Somewhere" in the Nantahala national forest.

That is a good one! I love throwing a dry fly in a plunge pool and watch them run under it and trying to make up their mind then bam!Awesome. That's a nice brookie.
That place looks familiar. If it's where I think it is there are some "slick rocks" in that stretch. No sir. "Somewhere" in the Nantahala national forest.
Some of the best wild stream fishing including Brookies are well outside of the park. Most of my fishing is done in South Cherokee and most of the time, I have literally miles of streams all to myself because most people "assume" you HAVE to go to the park to catch wild trout. I'm glad they have that mindset!Nice! I guess Brookies abound there as well. I love catching them, because you usually have to go a ways up and leave the roadside Orvis crowd behind.
Naw, it ain't Slickrock. Last couple of times I fished that stream it appeared it never recovered from the big drought several years ago. Unfortunate because there used be some really nice Browns in there! That place looks familiar. If it's where I think it is there are some "slick rocks" in that stretch.
I used to fish Slickrock many years ago and yes there were some good fish in it. I always fished it coming in from the NC side. Would put my canoe in on Calderwood and paddle down to where Slickrock came out and hike in that way. I don't think I ever saw another person. Did see some bears though lol.Naw, it ain't Slickrock.
