Finally had some time to try and dial in the bow after getting a new string.

FP grouped well but were hitting 16" off from BH. BH were grouping about 4" @ 20 yds WAY low and Right of FP.

Paper tuned and adjusted my nock point up above the brass thing guy put on the string. Got my string loop set and shot again. Much better. Moved the rest slightly left to correct for that tear angle and shot again.

better still. Now my tears are almost perfect. They indicate that I should move my nock point down a hair but the brass thing is in the way. Ok, move my rest up a hair.

FP now hitting 4" low @ 20 and grouping well. BH hitting 6" low and 5" right. Groups are better but still sloppy.

Moved rest a hair left and things got worse. Moved it back.

I have already moved my sights WAY WAY past where they have ever gone before over 9 yrs of bow hunting and probably 4 strings.

Something is obviously way wrong but I don't know what to try next.

Wish I had an answer but don't. I start all over if I get to the point you have right now.

Did the guy that put the string on make sure its in spec after he done it. I know it sounds crazy but I would try going the opposite way with your adjustments and shoot it. I had kinda the same problem when I broadhead tuned my XS. I kept moving it and it wouldn't get better. I moved it back and eye balled it and it was closer. I started making adjustments the way your supposed to and things came together then.

The first thing I would check would be the ATA measurement, I'll bet it is off and if it is not is I would check the cam timing. As far as the brass nock--just take it off and you should be able get the nock point exactly where it should be. However, it sounds like the bow is out of time since everything else you have done is correct and should have fixed the problem.

Thanks I will check that tomorrow. Its a matthews FX single cam.
Something is not right. Just have to figure out where to start looking.

Since it is a Mathews, after you measure the ATA-check the cam timing windowthe string should bisect the center of the window, or on older cams the two alignment holes should run parallel to the string and if either one of those are off then you WILL have issues, as you already know. On any Mathews bow, your nocking point should be 1/8-1/4" above the bottom of the arrow when it is on the rest and the rest should be 13/16" from the riser shelf. Of course, these are only guidelines but they are almost always within a 1/8"most of the time.

checked cam lean and it appears to be WAY out. Cam timing also appears to be off a little if the hole in the cam is the indicator.

ATA is good and BH is close enough. Im going to try adding some twists to my cable, especially the right yoke and see if the lean evens out some.

Thanks for all the help!

TNDEER GUY,

Thanks for those links. My cam lean was WAY off. Did the 9/12 twist thing and now it looks good like the photos in the links.

Once it stops raining I will get out and re-tune the bow and see where I am at.
